Testimonials - THE LONGHORN CULTURE

  • “You have built a fabulous program and family/community.  We felt welcomed immediately. We loved how much attention xx got in the offseason small group practices with everyone from both teams mixed. When I would walk in every coach would say hi and call xx by name.”

  • “As you know xx knew no one on the team or in 10u at all. He has found dear friends  The bond that was created this year was so special. It took Tondorf to a new level for us. Seeing the boys cheer each other on when playing each other and watching each others game was so much fun. You could see how much they care about each other as people and teammates.”

  • “I was speaking with a parent from the 12u team and he asked if we were going back to Longhorns. I of course said yes and he responded that they are too. When he asked his son if he wanted to the response was “dad of course I want to. I got so much better playing there this year!”  We couldn’t agree more!!”

  • “Thank you for an amazing season! A year ago we went back and forth on whether or not to stay in 12u another year or continue on with 13u. Staying in 12u was the BEST decision we ever made for so many reasons and the biggest one by far, was getting to have you as coach. You can see how much love and respect those boys have for you. You are amazing with them and we could not have asked for a better season. You boosted xx confidence and were always such a positive influence. We are beyond happy for the championship win, but sad that the season is over.”

  • “Coach Patelis - thanks for an awesome season. xx loved playing for you and had a great time with this group of boys.  Really appreciate the effort you put in to build a great culture. It feels like a family.”

  • "Coaches were great. Not just teaching baseball skills, but they were great role models for how to act and play the game the right way."

  • "We love Coach Casey. Aside from him being a great coach, it is very obvious that he truly cares about the success of the kids not only with Longhorns but beyond. The program and coaching over the years has been phenomenal from both a physical and mental perspective. Our son has gained immense confidence and knowledge that he will take with him into College.”

  • “The College exposure that has been achieved this year has been quite impressive. Amazing tournaments this year and events like the Scout Day. Keep up the great work. We recommend Longhorns to everyone."

  • "The culture and the fact that it’s very obvious you care about the kid’s futures and not just about winning games to make the organization look good."

  • "I’ve never met anyone as positive and encouraging as Lou and James. They teach. They coach. They love the kids. You have some incredibly talented coaches. So very grateful for them."

  • "The coaches, the comraderie, the growth I’ve seen in my son. He’s very proud to be a Longhorn."

  • "Coach Lou was great - very positive and good with the kids. My son's confidence grew over the season."

  • "All of the coaches we've had have been very positive but appropriately demanding of the players."

  • "Commitment to taking kids that love the game of baseball and helping them achieve their dreams of continuing to play for as long as they can."

  • "Coach Copp is outstanding, not just as a baseball coach but in teaching the boys to be good people and to play the game the right way."

  • "The program does truly feel like a family; there is support from all the staff."

  • "Coach Casey was an amazing coach for the boys. He has an excellent balance between player development, competitiveness, maintaining engagement/ behavior."

  • "Coach Copp is one of the best coaches out there. He is patient and fair with the boys. You can't get a better role model on how to behave at the field. He is a huge part of the reason we don't look at other programs.  The boys are taught skills and respect.  The boys are always respectful of each other and other teams. I have been to a lot of games where this isn't the case. Character is just as important of a lesson as skill."

  • "The program’s coaches espouse the character that Matt teaches and you see it reflected in the players. Not all these kids will continue with baseball after HS but they’ll all have learned respect and to give 100% effort."

  • "The fact that it’s development based rather than wins and losses."

  • "The coaches and the culture."

  • "The coaching, the encouragement from the coaches and the overall experience my son had. The practicing from November - March was amazing."

  • "Matt does a good job keeping us informed with schedule issues that he can control."

  • "Eric (Lucier) was communicative, clear in his expectations both of players and families, and supportive and encouraging of all athletes. He was fair in his player decisions and held each boy to a high standard."

  • "We’ve been really happy with the coaching. Coach Copp does a great job leading the team and the coaching seems very balanced. They’re pushed to grow and develop as players but they’re still having fun too."

  • "Coach Patelis was tremendous at building a great culture and developing players. He seemed to connect well with the players. He was also great about providing feedback on things we could work on with our son."

  • "The culture is fantastic. We feel that the coaches and entire staff are invested in developing players. It’s not all about stats and a winning record. Your staff wants what is best for the player."

  • "Coaches I know are great human beings and they care.  Owner is great and I can talk to them."

  • "We were hesitant to do the club thing because we worried it would be too intense and the club would be more focused on the profit than player development. We found that the coaches were all great and welcoming from day 1 and thought it was a great balance of serious training while understanding that the players are still kids. Our son’s skill level and understanding of the game improved greatly over the year as did his self awareness when it comes to understanding his strengths and what he still needs to work on. Love the Longhorns philosophy and happy to have found this program for our son."

  • "The coaches and their development philosophy. How they know how to communicate to the kids to get them to not only make the necessary adjustments but understand why."

  • "Eric (Lucier) did an awesome job with the 12U Navy squad. He taught them to be smarter, stronger, and more confident players. His calm presence was perfect for this age."

  • "The coaching staff and the attitude towards building well-rounded, smart athletes rather than just baseball players."

  • "Coaching is outstanding and we love flexibility with winter practices."

  • "Coaches and teammates. It’s nice how all the different coaches seem to know all the kids. Great that kids get exposed to multiple coaches in the off season."

  • "It's a great group of competitive kids (15u prospect team) that want it. Coach Anderson has a great balance of tough and humor."

  • "Our overall experience was very positive this year. My son in particularly loves Coach Patellis and his approach to everything. The team chemistry was unbelievable, and they achieved their ultimate goal of winning it all. Although the primary goal is developing physically and mentally as a player, this team took it over the top. Have yet to speak with one person that was dissatisfied with any part of their season."

  • "It’s amazing the things that Longhorns coaches get done in a smaller facility."

  • What do you like least about the organization? - "I'm really struggling to thinking of an answer for this. Prior to joining Longhorns, our club baseball experiences were really negative; Longhorns has been phenomenal in comparison."

  • "The off season program is fantastic. The amount of reps has made a clear difference for my son. Also, the flexibility you provide with scheduling is greatly appreciated."

  • "Coach Lou is such a positive influence on the kids. Playing on a B team can lead to some challenging stretches where the team isn’t playing their best, but Coach Lou always worked to pick the boys up. You can see Lou really cares about the kids and their development over wins and losses. Also, the addition of coach James (Fischgrund) was fantastic, he bonded with the boys quickly and added to the positive and fun environment. Through this all, both coaches continue to push the boys to be their best and play the game the right way. Thank you to both of them!"
