Matt anderson - owner, 11u / 16u head coach - EMAIL

Coach Anderson has been the owner / CEO of Anderson Baseball Academy and the Northeast Longhorns since 2010. Anderson has over 17 years of coaching experience at all levels. Anderson is heading into his 3rd year as HC for Hopkinton HS as he spent 6 years as the pitching coach. Throughout those 6 years, Hopkinton saw great success as they were 2x Sectional Champions and 2x State Finalists. Anderson also spent time coaching Holliston High at the JV and Varsity level as well as coaching for the Milford Legion program.

Anderson played his HS ball at Hopkinton High where he was a Tri-Valley and MetroWest All-Star in 2001. That year Hopkinton also was the league championship and Anderson was named team MVP.  After HS, Anderson spent a prep year at Williston Northampton School where he was team MVP and a prep league All-Star. Anderson moved on to play his college ball at Assumption College where he pitched for 4 years. He was named NE-10 Pitcher of the week in 2003.

Mike coppinger - Player Operations Director, 14u Head Coach

Coach Coppinger is entering his 15th year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Coppinger has over 19 years of coaching experience at various levels. He started his coaching career at the AAU level before moving on to coach at Merrimack College. Coppinger then spent time at Wellesley HS before moving on to Medway HS where he has been the head coach since 2015. During his tenure, Medway has been one of the more successful programs around – including a state finalist appearance in 2019. Coppinger was awarded the TVL Coach of the Year in 2016 and the Boston Globe Coach of the Year in 2019.  

Coppinger played his HS ball at Medway High where he was a 2x TVL All-Star. Coppinger also showcased his skills during the Bay State Games where his team ending up taking home the silver medal. Coppinger moved on to play his college ball at both Central Connecticut State University and Merrimack College where he was both a positional and a pitcher.

Chris Casey - Marketing Director & College Recruiting Advisor, 12u / 17u Head coach Email

Coach Casey is entering his 9th year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Casey comes from a family blood line of coaches as his father John was the head coach at Tufts for over 40 years and brothers Brian (Head Coach, Coast Guard), Kevin (Head Coach, Johnson & Wales), and Brendan (Head Coach, WPI) all coach at the collegiate level. Casey also coached at both the HS (Medway 2018) and college level (Roger Williams 2017) and is currently an assistant Varsity coach at Hopkinton HS. Casey will also serve as the college recruiting coordinator for the program.

Casey played his HS ball at Milford High where he was a 3-year starter that was apart of a team that won three straight league championships. Casey was also a 3-year starter for the Milford Legion (Post 59) program that had multiple state tournament appearances. Casey moved on to play 4 years at Western New England University where he played INF, OF and pitched.

jason barney - 10u Assistant Coach

Coach Barney is entering his 8th year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Barney is no stranger to coaching as he has spent 15+ years coaching various age groups and teams.

Aside from coaching for the Longhorns, Barney currently is the Head Coach for the Milford JV team and Milford Senior Babe Ruth team while serving as an assistant for the Milford Legion (Post 59) team.

Cam forbes - 12u / 17u Assistant coach

Coach Forbes is entering his 3rd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Forbes was previously an assistant coach for the Medway Senior Babe Ruth baseball team. Forbes has also been involved with Medway Youth Baseball for 5 years.  

Forbes played his HS ball at Medway High where he was a 2-year starter and put together one of the more impressive campaigns his senior year. He led the league in hitting with a .458 average and was 2nd in the state in RBIs compiling 27 for the year. Forbes spent that summer playing for Franklin Legion. Forbes moved on to play club baseball at the University of Rhode Island where he was the starting 3rd basemen.

Louis Lacivita - 13u Head coach

Coach LaCivita is entering his 3rd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff.  Louis has been coaching for the past two years at both the Little League and Babe Ruth levels for the Tri City Bombers organization in Troy, NY.  Louis brings head coaching experience to the staff, and we’re excited to have him lead two of our teams.

LaCivita played varsity baseball at Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, NY. After high school, he went on to pitch for four years at St Lawrence University in Canton, NY, also receiving a degree in History.

eric lucier - 13u Assistant coach

Coach Lucier is entering his 9th year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Lucier spent the 2015-2020 seasons as an assistant before becoming a head coach on the staff.

Lucier played his HS baseball at Milford High from 2013-2016. Lucier is also the only coach on staff who played as a Longhorn which was from 2011-2013, including being on a team when the Longhorns first became a program.

TJ Johnson - 14u assistant coach

Coach Johnson is entering his 4th year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Johnson is currently an assistant Varsity coach at Medway High and previously was an assistant coach for the Medway Senior Ruth team.

Johnson played his HS baseball at Medway High from 2014-2017 where he played various spots in the infield. Johnson was a part of the Medway High team that capture a TVL Championship in 2016.

Kevin Marciano - 12u Head coach

Coach Marciano is entering his 2nd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Marciano brings a ton of coaching experience as he was a head coach with the Nor’Easters AAU organization for 7+ years. We are excited to have Kevin join the staff to help lead one of our teams and help throughout the off-season.

 Marciano played varsity baseball at North Middlesex Regional HS and played legion ball for Leominster. Upon graduation, Marciano attended Western New England University where he was a 3-year starter while also seeing playing time his freshman year. Marciano was named to the 1st Team All-CCC during his junior & senior campaign and was named a 2nd Team All-CCC player his sophomore year. Marciano’s best statistical year was his senior year where he hit .388 with 57 hits, 2 HRs and 20 RBI.

Billy Walsh - 16u Assistant coach

Coach Walsh is entering his 2nd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Walsh brings experience to our staff as he has worked at the AtBats facility running different clinics and private lessons. We are excited to have Billy join the staff and help lead one of our teams and help throughout the off-season.

 Walsh played his varsity ball at Maynard HS where he started all four years as a MIF and pitcher. Walsh was named team captain his senior year. Upon graduation, Walsh attends MCLA where he is currently a senior and is a MIF & pitcher on the baseball team. Walsh was recruited as a pitcher-only but kept working on his craft and now gets time as both an infielder & pitcher.

Danny Burdick - 11u Assistant coach

Coach Burdick is entering his 1st year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Burdick was a member of the Northeast Longhorns as a player in the first 2 years of the organization. While playing for the Longhorns, Burdick was a Pitcher/OF/3B.

Burdick played his varsity ball at Blackstone Valley Tech where he started for 2 years and was nominated captain his senior year. That year he helped lead the team to a state vocational championship. After HS ball, Burdick played 2 years for the Hopedale Js in which he was a starting MIF and was also awarded captaincy.

James Patelis - Player Operations Director, 13u Head coach

Coach Patelis is entering his 12th year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Patelis has 16 years of coaching experience as he also spent time coaching the Framingham Babe Ruth program as well as being the current assistant coach for the Medway Varsity program.

Patelis was a 4-year starter for the Framingham HS team and was named a league all-star twice. Patelis also was a 4-year starter for Framingham Legion (Post 74) where he was a team captain that led his team to a state finals appearance. Patelis continued his playing career throughout college where he suited up for both Eastern Connecticut State University and Mass Bay CC. Patelis was named to the All-New England Team in ’09 while having the 6th most steals in the country.

Joe SaNTOS - 15U HEAD COACH

Coach Santos is entering his 15th year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Santos has 15+ years of coaching experience at both the HS and youth levels. Since 2016, Santos has been the Head Coach for the Varsity program at Holliston HS where he has led them to the state tournament twice for the first time since 2007. Santos has coached 5 players that have gone on to play at the collegiate level since 2020. Santos coached our 17u prospect team in ’23 where 5 players have committed to schools ranging from the D1 to D3 level, with more expecting to commit soon.

Santos played his HS ball at Holliston High where he was a 4-year starter and a 2x All-League player. Santos was a 2x team captain and was named team MVP. Santos moved on the play his college ball at both Southern New Hampshire University and Merrimack College where he played INF, OF and pitched.

Brandon White - 14u Head coach

Coach White is entering his 3rd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. White was a 4-year varsity starter at Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield, CT and a member of the 2014 SWC Championship team his freshman year. He batted .387 in his sophomore season and led the team in steals each of the 4 years he played. White played travel ball for Trumbull Legion Post 141, The Clubhouse, and Technique Tigers.

White then moved on to play his college ball at Mitchell College in New London, CT. White was an outfielder, mostly spending time in CF while there. While White was at Mitchell, they won the NECC Conference Championship and made a regional appearance.

todd kagno - 13u assistant coach

Coach Kagno is entering his 3rd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Kagno is no stranger to the program as his son played for 3 seasons from 2010 – 2013.  Kagno has extensive baseball experience as he has been playing & coaching baseball for over 40 years.

Kagno coached a 13u AAU Program in 2021 before taking a role with the Longhorns and also coached Holliston youth baseball at the town, intramural and travel team levels from 2007 – 2014.  Kagno also is an assistant coach for the team he plays for currently.  As a utility player, Kagno has experience playing all over the diamond & especially the outfield.

James Fischgrund - 13u Head coach

Coach James is entering his 3rd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff.  James is the head coach of the Middle School team at Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island.  He also spends time helping out the varsity program as well. James has experience in player development and places a large focus on having a positive sports mentality.

As an infielder and pitcher, Coach James played varsity baseball at Springfield Township High School in Philadelphia, PA. After high school, he went on to study at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI. 

Bobby Kenny - 16u Head coach

Coach Kenny is entering his 1st season as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Kenny spent 16 years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Tufts University. As a coach, Kenny helped guide the team to 5 NESCAC titles & 6 NCAA tournament berths.  Kenny worked closely with the catchers and guided 2 Tufts catchers to win NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year while other catchers he worked with received All-NESCAC honors.

Kenny attended Milford High School where he played HS baseball and was also a part of the Milford Legion team that went to the World Series in 2001. Kenny was an integral part of the ‘01 Legion team that made a run to the World Series. At Tufts, Kenny started 106 games behind the plate for Tufts from 2002-05 and was the lone captain for the ’05 team. As a freshman, Kenny started 29 games on a team that was the NESCAC Championship & played in the NCAA Tournament.

Ethan Mick - 13u Assistant coach

Coach Mick is entering his 2nd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Mick brings a lot of knowledge of the game to our program. We are excited to have Ethan join the staff and help lead one of your teams.

 Mick played varsity baseball at Medway HS both as a pitcher and a positional. Upon graduation, Ethan attended Newbury College where he was a pitcher on the baseball team for 4 years. Mick was a two-way player for his summer baseball team throughout college so he brings experience as both a positional/pitcher.

BREndan Pounds - 11u Head coach

Coach Pounds is entering his 2nd year as a coach on the Longhorns staff. Pounds brings experience to our staff as both a player and coach. Pounds coached the 13u level for his previous AAU program. We are excited to have Brendan join our staff and develop our younger athletes.

Pounds played his varsity ball at Milford HS where he was a 2-year player on a league championship team and served as a captain his senior year. Pounds played SS for his HS team and also played SS/OF for Milford Legion. Pounds was on the 2014 Milford Legion state championship team that were also regional finalists.
